Experience the roots of modern jazz and much of modern music with the Bebop Summer Intensive, led by the world-renowned bassist, Sean Conly. Immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of Bebop and learn the music of the legends who created this iconic genre, including Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins, Miles Davis, Horace Silver and more.
This intensive workshop offers a unique opportunity to dive deep into the language of Bebop, exploring the nuances and complexities of this dynamic style. Through the interpretation of compositions from that era, you’ll gain valuable insights into the nature of Bebop.

About Sean Conly


Sean Conly is a bassist (electric/contrabass) composer  and bass teacher whose love and affection for a huge spectrum of the world’s music have made him an extremely versatile performer. As a teacher. player and a writer, Sean is constantly looking for ways to mix the traditional bass playing with the new, in an never ending journey to mix melody harmony rhythm and sound into a unique artistic voice.

As a bassist, Sean Conly  has toured the world and/or recorded with a diverse list of artists such as Gregory Tardy, Freddie Hubbard, Regina Carter, Ray Barretto,  Charles Blenzig, Michael Franks, Tom Harrell, Andrew Hill, Nicholas Payton, Stefon Harris, Yoron Israel, Eric Lewis, Deidre Murray, John Mcneil, Timucin Sahin, James Moody , Mike Stern, Rick Margitza, Michael Attias, Tony Malaby , Myron Walden, Phillip Harper, Russ Lossing,  Anthony Coleman, Avishai Cohen (trpt), Ayelet Rose Gottleib, Vana Gehrig Trio, Darius Jones, Ken Vandermark/Steve Swell Quartet, The Newport Millennium  Celebration (with Cedar Walton, Randy Brecker, Howard Alden, Lew Tabackin, Francisco Mela, Paula West, Joe Fiedler’s “Stunt Chicken”, Iranian singer/songwriter Mohsen Namjoo and many, many others.

In addition to touring, and his private practice Sean Conly teaches bass and the bebop workshop at the New York Jazz Workshop
