The New York Jazz Workshop is proud to announce the formation of the NYJW Saxophone Quartet taught by Marc Mommaas.
The Saxophone Quartet is a great avenue to build technique, develop a full sound, improve reading skills, develop improvisation skills, strengthen your tuning and above all to have fun playing some amazing arrangements. You can expect arrangements from from Jazz artists such as Charles Mingus, Yusef Lateef, Lennie Niehaus, Hubert Blake, Dave Bramely, Nick Ayoub and Ralph Martino. Styles will be mixed up and includes classical four part arrangements (Bach, Piazolla, Ravel and much more).
For saxophone players this is a must. Nothing gets you faster to a higher level of comfort on your instrument then the saxophone quartet. A workout that you do not want to miss out on. The intermediate level is a precursor to the advanced level. Ideally students advance from Intermediate to Advanced into performing opportunities.
