Learn to record and mix your own music, right from home, using Pro Tools! In a time when gathering together with an ensemble is particularly challenging, digital tracking makes it possible for musicians to collaborate from all corners of the globe. This way, we can all continue to share our work. Luckily, the skills you’ll pick up in this 10-week Pro Tools Class, under the direction of Terry Dame, will provide you with the know-how to navigate the Pro Tools software. You’ll learn to record high-quality audio, layer and mix multiple tracks, and much more! Maximum of 7 students per class, so act fast to reserve your spot.

*Mac is preferred. Windows will work, but the instructor’s ability to troubleshoot will be limited.

About Terry Dame:
The Pro Tools Class is led by Terry Dame, a New York based creative technologist, sound artist, composer, multinstrumentalist and educator. She has been working professionally in the fields of music and sound for over thirty years. In the creative realm she currently works with interactive sensor-driven musical instruments, sculptures and installations using found objects. She has found sounds to explore pathways between creativity, technology, nature and human habitation.
From 1998-2012 she led the percussion-based ensemble Electric Junkyard Gamelan. The group toured nationally and internationally performing original compositions on Dame’s own artist-made instruments built from recycled objects. Her work has been presented at prestigious venues internationally including the Kennedy Center, MoMa, Detroit Institute of Art, International Festival of Recycling Art, International Festival of Arts and Ideas and Festival Archstoyanie. In addition, she has received support from HarvestWorks Digital Media Center, Fractured Atlas, Mary Flagler Cary Charitable Trust, The Rockefeller Foundation, NYSCA and Meet the Composer. Dame also has an active career composing for film and dance and is an alumni of the prestigious Sundance Institute Composer Lab. Furthermore, from 1998 to present she has owned and operated Dame Audio, a music and sound production company providing studio and sound reinforcement services for music, film and fashion industries.
In addition to the Pro Tools Class at NYJW, Dame is currently on faculty in the MFA Computer Arts program at the School of Visual Arts, and BFA Media Arts at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City. She holds a BFA in Environmental Planning from the University of Massachusetts and MFA in Composition and Performance from the California Institute of the Arts.
