‘A Peck A Sec’ is a straight ahead hard bop head by Hank Mobley. It was first released on Freddie Hubbard’s 1961 album “Goin’ Up”.

Heads like this are obviously written for horn players in a group setting. Start off slow get the fingering down and gradually increase the speed. It’s a good way to find that groove for your own improvisations. Think about enclosures, approach tones and arpeggios (Link).

Keep the left hand simple – just suggest the changes and punctuate the melody.
