Billy Taylor’s ‘Capricious’ was recorded by Gerry Mulligan and Tommy Flanagan in 1962 and released on the album “Jeru”.
Difficulty = Straightforward
‘Capricious’ is pretty straightforward harmonically. The transcription above is the basic skeleton of the piece. It is interesting to compare the more leisurely version with Flanagan (above) with the faster Taylor version (here). Both piano players are quite “conservative” but their chord voicings are distinct.
