Flat 13 Chord Extensions

Flat 13 Chord Extensions

The flat 13 chord extension offers lots of interesting possibilities. Added to a minor 7 chord it describes a minor scale (b3, b6/b13, b7). On a dominant chord it’s ambiguous – not entirely a tension chord or a resolution chord. With a Major 7 chord it is colourful but not overtly dissonant.
