Taught  by renowned tenor saxophonist Patience Higgins this class follows the jazz oral tradition, focusing on learning through repetition and memorization, much like the methods of the great Barry Harris. Although beginners in jazz are welcome, it’s essential to have control over your instrument and be able to play scales and chords. The class is not theory-free; rather, it focuses on applying theory in real-world playing situations. You’ll develop a personal jazz vocabulary by absorbing phrasing, improvising over chord changes, and refining your ear through guided practice. It’s an immersive experience designed to bridge the gap between theory and performance.
