Are you a pianist or guitarist looking for an elevated ensemble experience? Join us for an intimate trio workshop that gives you maximum playing time and personalized attention from a world-class professional bassist.
This exclusive format pairs just one student pianist and one student guitarist with world-renowned bassist Sean Conly , creating an immersive learning environment where you’ll explore the essential repertoire of jazz masters. From the introspective harmonies of Bill Evans to the angular melodies of Thelonious Monk, from the contemporary soundscapes of Pat Metheny to the bebop foundations, you’ll develop your voice within the classic jazz trio format.
With only two students per session, you’ll benefit from extended improvisation time, detailed feedback on your comping and soloing, and the chance to deeply explore the interplay that defines great jazz trio playing. This intensive format allows for personalized coaching on repertoire selection, arrangement approaches, and the specific challenges of your instrument within the trio context.
This class is ideal for intermediate to advanced level musicians who want to accelerate their development in an intimate, focused setting.

About Sean Conly:
Sean Conly is a New York-based bassist and composer who has performed and recorded with jazz luminaries including Freddie Hubbard, Regina Carter, Tom Harrell, and Andrew Hill. Known for his versatility across both electric and upright bass, Sean has toured internationally and leads several acclaimed groups including The True North Project and Re:Action
To apply: Please submit an audition video for piano or guitar. Your audition will be used to match you with another student musician with a similar skill level.

For students regularly enrolled in multiple workshops, we offer a 25% discount on each workshop after the first. If you are a student between 17 and 26 years old, you qualify for a 25% discount on any of our workshops. If you are a student 70 and over, you qualify for a 10% discount on all weekly workshops.
